Julio Jones, a seven-time Pro Bowl wide receiver, officially inked a one-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles on Tuesday.
At the age of 34, Jones will reunite with former Tennessee Titans teammate A.J. Brown, who had actively advocated for Jones’s acquisition by the Titans in 2021.
The Eagles recently placed wide receiver Quez Watkins on injured reserve due to a hamstring injury. In their quest for reinforcements, they conducted workouts with receivers Marquez Callaway and Dezmon Patmon on Monday. Ultimately, their choice fell on Jones, who will now join his fourth team in as many years.
Jones boasts a career receiving yardage total of 13,629, surpassing that of any other active NFL player.
In addition to his previous stint with A.J. Brown in Tennessee, Jones has also played alongside Eagles receiver Olamide Zaccheaus when they were both with the Atlanta Falcons from 2019 to 2020.
Jones holds several franchise records with the Falcons, including receiving yards (12,896), receptions (848), single-season receptions (136), single-season receiving yards (1,871), 100-yard games (58), and 1,000-yard seasons (seven).
In his most recent season, Jones played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and he has a history of 50 receptions for 804 yards and five touchdowns in seven career games against the Eagles, including a game-winning touchdown in 2019.
Now, he aims to contribute his expertise to the Philadelphia Eagles as a potential No. 3 receiver behind Brown and DeVonta Smith.
